Anhalt Wins Wisconsin FFA Vegetable Production Award

June 14, 2022 Proficiency

The 2022 Winner in Vegetable Production is Samantha Anhalt of the Mishicot FFA Chapter. The Vegetable Production Proficiency is sponsored by the Kalscheur Foundation.

After completing her first horticulture class freshman year, Samantha was inspired to further her hands-on experience by expanding her family’s gardens where she began sowing, maintaining, and harvesting over 30 varieties of vegetables ranging from yellow beans to swiss chard. Samantha’s interest in vegetable production continues to grow as she volunteers to manage the school’s community garden and greenhouse where she applies integrated pest management practices, and transplants, waters, and harvests all vegetables grown.

Samantha Anhalt’s advisor is Jamie Propson.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Vegetable Production:

Second: Allison Loosen, Slinger

Third: Nolan Drews, Randolph Cambria-Friesland

Fourth: Cody Hudziak, Weyauwega-Fremont

Fifth: Owen Gould, Randolph Cambria-Friesland

Anhalt will find out this summer if she is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Samantha will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in October.
