Morgan Baerwolfe of the Columbus FFA Chapter was named the state winner of the FFA Employment Skills Leadership Development Event (LDE). The Employment Skills LDE was held at the 94th State Convention of the Wisconsin Association of FFA in Madison, Wisconsin. Baerwolfe’s advisor is Glenda Crook.
Students who participated in Employment Skills were asked to select an agricultural career. The panel of judges would then conduct a mock interview asking questions of the job applicant. The participants were judged by business professionals, and were critiqued on their poise, confidence, and other necessary traits to be successful in the business world.
The top ten FFA members from across the state competed in finals round competition that tested their skills in an interview situation. In addition, members completed a job application and put together a resume and cover letter, which were judged and tallied into the final score.
The other finalists were:
2nd Place: Ava Leibfried, Cuba City FFA
3rd Place: Sierra Bakke, Owen-Withee FFA
4th Place: Elisha Vogel, Denmark FFA
The State FFA Employment Skills LDE is sponsored at the state level by Kuhn North America, Inc.
Baerwolfe will represent Wisconsin at the 96th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana this November. The national winner will be selected from a group of state finalists and will receive a plaque and additional scholarship money sponsored by Bayer, NAU Country, Syngenta and the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association.
