Bauer Wins Wisconsin FFA Specialty Animal Production Proficiency Winner

June 16, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Specialty Animal Production proficiency winner is Britney Bauer of the Marshfield FFA Chapter. This proficiency is sponsored by the Wisconsin FFA Foundation Convention Partners.

Britney has been raising and showing llamas for the past ten years. Through her involvement in the Wood County Youth Llama Project, Britney has been able to learn the anatomy of llamas, their history, how to care for them, common illnesses in llamas, and much more. Britney ensures the health of her llamas by feeding, watering, cleaning their pen, vaccinating, walking, and caring for their feet. Furthermore, Britney grooms and shears her llamas to avoid matting.

Britney’s advisors are Tim Heeg and Mark Zee.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Specialty Animal Production:

Second: Ellie Pomrening, Weyauwega – Fremont

Third: Cody Hudziak, Weyauwega – Fremont

Fourth: Mary Schrieber, East Troy

Fifth: Crystal Anhalt, Mischicot

Bauer will find out this summer if she is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Brittany will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
