Beining Named Wisconsin Star Farmer Finalist

June 16, 2022 Star Award

Faith Beining of the Marshfield FFA is a Wisconsin Star Farmer finalist.

The Star Farmer Award recognizes students in production agriculture working with entrepreneurship programs, ranging from animals to crops.

After starting to show poultry in the 5th grade, Faith’s family told her she could choose five breeds to purchase. She talked her family into eight breeds, and began selling eggs collected from her chickens to cover the costs of raising them.  Faith developed her own mixed feed that was nutritionally equivalent to more expensive feeds but saved her operation money. Faith now owns over 30 breeds of chickens, donates eggs to her agriculture department for use in classes, and continues to sell eggs as well.

Faith plans to pursue a degree in dairy science at UW-River Falls with a career goal of working as a dairy nutritionist or herdsman. She hopes to stay involved in poultry as well and help other youth with their operations.

Faith’s mom is Samantha Beining. Her advisors are Mr. Tim Heeg and Mr. Mark Zee.
