Davis Wins State FFA Prepared Speaking Contest

June 14, 2022 LDE

Katie Davis of the Oregon FFA Chapter was selected as the state winner of the FFA Prepared Speaking Leadership Development Event with her speech, “GMO’s: Help or Harm?”. Kate’s advisor is Jillian Beaty. The Prepared Speaking Contest was held at the 93rd State Convention of the Wisconsin Association of FFA in Madison, WI.

In the Prepared Public Speaking Contest, students research a topic of interest and then put a six to eight-minute creative and informative speech. The speech is then presented to a panel of judges who score the student based on the speech’s content, composition and delivery.

The other finalists were:

2nd Place: Talena Sprecher, Ithaca

 3rd Place:  Mara Krejchik, Portage

4th Place:  Brianna Meyer, Chilton

The State FFA Prepared Speaking Contest is sponsored at the state level by the Adams-Columbia Electric Cooperative, BMO Harris Bank and the Floyd Doering Endowment. The Prepared Speaking Contest is sponsored on the national level by Bayer.

Kate Davis will represent Wisconsin at the 95th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana this October. The national winner will be selected from a group of state finalists and will receive a plaque and additional scholarship money.
