MADISON, Wis. (April 29, 2022) – Courtney Glenna of the Amery FFA Chapter was named the 2022 State FFA Dairy Handlers Activity Winner. Her advisor is Derrick Meyer.
The objective of the Dairy Handlers Activity is to recognize their ability to set up their assigned animal to its best advantage, maintain the animal in its most advantageous position, exhibit effective restraint and move the animal as requested by the event ringmaster. Additionally, poise, calmness and a positive attitude play a significant role in gaining success in the Dairy Cattle Handlers Activity.
The Dairy Cattle Evaluation Career Development Event is sponsored on the state level by the FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative.
Through participation in the Dairy Cattle Handlers Activity, students learn to work with others in a way that is cooperative, courteous, and helpful while demonstrating effective dairy handling skills. All Career Development Events engage students in developing their communication, decision-making and teamwork skills to promote future career success.
