Hanson Wins Wisconsin FFA Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship

June 13, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Winner in Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance – Entrepreneurship is Shay Hanson of the Whitehall FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by CNH Industrial .

From a young age, Shay had an interest in agricultural mechanics which drove him to learn how to rebuild and fix chainsaws and tractors. This hobby turned into a business when others in the local area realized his talent and brought him their equipment to repair. Through his SAE, Shay has learned how to network with customers, write invoices, source parts, research procedures, diagnose problems, and much more. To continue to expand his expertise in this area, recently, Shay earned his Briggs and Stratton Small Engine Certification.

Shay’s advisor is Melinda Goplin.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance – Entrepreneurship:

            Second: Joseph Robinson, Mineral Point

Hanson will find out this summer if he is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Shay will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
