Hudziak Wins Wisconsin FFA Vegetable Production Proficiency

June 16, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Winner in Vegetable Production is Cody Hudziak of the Weyauwega – Fremont FFA Chapter. This proficiency is sponsored by McCain Foods, Inc.

Cody’s Supervised Agricultural Experience involves working with the aquaponics system in the agricultural classroom in Weyauwega – Fremont. Cody has been essential to the success of the aquaponics system and its ability to grow buttercrunch lettuce for their school lunch program, as he was the one who assembled the system, and has served as the main manager of the system. Additionally, in the summer, Cody is a seed planting assistant and crop scout for Del Monte Foods. Within this position, Cody transports seed and scouts fields for pests, diseases, and harvest readiness for over 22,000 acres of various crops such as green beans, potatoes, carrots, and beets.

Cody’s advisors are Sandra Dykes and Connie Peterson.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Vegetable Production:

Second: Allison Loosen, Slinger

Third: Samantha Vosters, Freedom

Fourth: Nolan Drews, Randolph – Cambria Friesland

Fifth: Victoria Seif, Granton

Hudziak will find out this summer if he is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Cody will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
