Jarvais Wins Wisconsin FFA Beef Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency

June 16, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Winner in Beef Production – Entrepreneurship is Ava Jarvais of the Clintonville FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association.

Through Ava’s SAE, she has been able to develop her own herd of beef cattle to raise, show and sell. As the herd’s primary caretaker, Ava completes daily chores such as watering, feeding, picking out the proper genetics for the herd, cleaning pens, and driving farm equipment. During calving season in the fall and spring, Ava assists with difficult labors, cares for newborn calves, and makes sure that the calves are dry, warm, and healthy. Additionally, Ava prepares for the show ring by purchasing the proper supplies, washing the cattle, and working with her cattle.

Her advisor is Dani Angotti.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Beef Production Entrepreneurship :

Second: Ethan Lulich, Mauston

Third: Joseph Robinson, Mineral Point

Fourth: Hannah Oleson, Adams – Friendship

Fifth: Ellen Robinson, Mineral Point

Jarvais will find out this summer if she is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Ava will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
