Amy Jentges of the Random Lake FFA Chapter was named the state winner of the FFA Employment Skills Contest. The Employment Skills Contest was held at the 93rd State Convention of the Wisconsin Association of FFA in Madison, Wis. Jentges’ advisor is Ms. Whitney Rathke.
Students who participated in Employment Skills were asked to select an agricultural career. The panel of judges would then conduct a mock interview asking questions of the job applicant. The participants were judged by business professionals, and were critiqued on their poise, confidence, and other necessary traits to be successful in the business world.
The top ten FFA members from across the state competed in finals round competition that tested their skills in an interview situation. In addition, members completed a job application and put together a resume and cover letter, which were judged and tallied into the final score.
The other finalists were:
2nd Place: Marisa Thiex, Antigo
3rd Place: Kelly Herness, Whitehall
4th Place: Isabelle Lyste, Barron
The State FFA Extemporaneous Speaking Contest is sponsored at the state level by the Wisconsin FFA Foundation Annual Fund.
