Johnson Wins Wisconsin FFA Specialty Animal Production Award

June 14, 2022 Proficiency

The 2022 Specialty Animal Production proficiency winner is Ashley Johnson of the Weyauwega-Fremont FFA Chapter. The Specialty Animal Production proficiency is sponsored by Wisconsin Public Service.

Ashley’s SAE started a few years ago as she began working at Animal Haven Zoo where she interacts with more than 60 different species of animals, some of which include tigers, lions, camels, zebras, lemurs, and even cougars. Ashley works with the veterinarian independently to meet the high standards of animal health at the zoo taking care of vaccinations and all other medication. Ashley’s greatest accomplishment in her SAE has been earning the trust to manage the feed route for the more than 400 animals at the zoo.

Ashley’s advisors are Sandra Dykes and Connie Peterson.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Speciality Animal Production:

Second: Mary Schrieber, East Troy

Third: Cody Hudziak, Weyauwega-Fremont

Fourth: Savannah Sinkula, Mischicot

Fifth: Evan Henningfeld, Big Foot

Johnson will find out this summer if she selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Ashley will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in October.
