The 2022 Small Animal Production and Care proficiency winner is Riley Landsverk of the Rio FFA. The Small Animal Production and Care Proficiency is sponsored by MAI Animal Health.
Riley owns 35 rabbits, from three different breeds. Riley is responsible for daily cleaning and feeding as well as providing tailored living conditions to each breeds’ individual needs. One of Riley’s greatest challenges was decreasing the mortality rate for one of her breeds, Dwarf Hotots. Through selective breeding, Riley discovered she was able to increase survival rates.
Riley’s advisor is Andi Dohm.
We would like to recognize the state finalists in Small Animal Production & Care:
Second: Sylvia Durrant, Pittsville
Third: Gianna Kuhn, Neillsville
Fourth: Brooke Weber, Waterford
Fifth: Isabella Ruosch, Janesville Craig
Landsverk will find out this summer if she selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Riley will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in October.
