Loosen Wins Wisconsin FFA Service-Learning Award

June 14, 2022 Proficiency

The 2022 Service-Learning proficiency winner is Paul Loosen of the Slinger FFA. The Service-Learning Proficiency is sponsored by Glenn L. and Sonja Linder Endowment and United Cooperative.

After hearing from one of the local farmers that they had to slaughter hundreds of piglets prematurely because of supply chain issues in the past few years, Paul created the “Farmers Feed America ” yard signs which recognized farmers for their continuous efforts to put food on our plates every day. In total, Paul sold 380 “Farmers Feed America” yard signs, reaching 27 different states. Funds raised from the campaign were donated to the National Farm Medicine Center which helped farmers install roll-over protection systems on tractors along with mental health initiatives.

Paul’s advisor is Katlyn Dei.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Service-Learning:

Second: Allison Loosen, Slinger

Third: Alexis Pongratz, Granton

Fourth: Sophie Cleveland, East Troy

Loosen will find out this summer if he selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Paul will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in October.
