The 2023 Service-Learning proficiency winner is Allison Loosen of the Slinger FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by the Wisconsin FFA Convention Partners.
When Covid – 19 made the world go virtual, Allison decided that Livestock shows could do the same. Allison organized the Corona Kicker Livestock Show, a virtual show where participants submitted videos which were then evaluated by four nationally acclaimed judges. Through this two month long event, Allison made a profit of $23,748. Half of this money was given to participants in prize money, the other half was donated to the American Red Cross, National 4-H, and National FFA. Furthermore, in 2021, Allison organized the Southeast Elite Jackpot to fill the need in her area of not having a cattle jackpot show. For both of these events, Allison was the primary organizer, from coordinating judges to running registration, and everything in between.
Allison’s advisor is Katelyn Dei.
We would like to recognize the state finalists in Service Learning :
Second: Alexis Pongratz, Granton
Third: Carter Grove, Marshfield
Loosen will find out this summer if she is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Allison will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
