Marquette Wins Wisconsin FFA Agricultural Processing

June 13, 2023

The 2023 Winner in Agricultural Processing is Ethan Marquette of the Weyauwega-Fremont FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by Denmark FFA Alumni.

Each year, Ethan assists his dad in collecting sap from nearly 2,000 trees to make 100% real maple syrup. In the spring, Ethan and his family taps to begin the collection process. After this, Ethan collects the sap that is captured in sterile catch bags, to be taken to the evaporator where it is boiled into maple syrup. Additionally, in the summer Ethan assists in splitting wood that burns to run the evaporator. Ethan plays a vital role in distribution of his family’s product by assisting in the marketing efforts and educating others about maple syrup. Ethan plans to own a Maple Syrup business of his own one day.

Ethan’s advisors are Sandra Dykes and Connie Peterson.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Agricultural Processing

            Second: Ella Woodworth, Shullsburg

            Third: Rylee Nelson, Waupaca

Marquette will find out this summer if he is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Ethan will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
