MADISON, Wis. – The Marshfield FFA Chapter was named the state winning Forestry Career Development Event Team. Team members include Raina Manlick, Carson Kvernen, Loryn Jakobi and Carter Grove. Their advisors are Tim Heeg and Mark Zee. Grant Hatfield from the Stanley-Boyd FFA was named the top individual. His advisor is Jordan Donnerbauer.
The Forestry Career Development requires students to demonstrate their skills in diagnosing forest disorders, managing forests and forest inventory and applying approved silviculture practices.
Marshfield will now represent Wisconsin FFA in competition at the National FFA Career Development Events to be held in October in Indianapolis, Indiana during the 95th National FFA Convention. The Forestry Career Development Event is sponsored on the state level by the Wisconsin FFA Foundation Annual Fund. The National sponsor is John Deere.
This event offers students experience relevant to a career choice in forestry and natural resources. All Career Development Events engage students in developing their communication, decision-making and teamwork skills to promote future career success.
