McMeeken Wins Wisconsin FFA Agricultural Education Award

June 14, 2022 Proficiency

The 2022 Agricultural Education Proficiency Winner is Ben McMeeken of the Slinger FFA. The Agricultural Education Proficiency is sponsored by GROWMARK, Inc.

Ben’s passion for agricultural education was sparked during his freshman year when he taught June Dairy Month lessons to 2nd-Grade students at Allenton Elementary. He then became involved in the annual Slinger FFA Food for American program, where he created 8 interactive stations for 4th and 5th-grade students to learn how their food travels from “Food to Fork.” Additionally, Ben created a month-long agriculture-focused curriculum that is taught to 7th and 8th graders at Slinger Middle School.

Ben’s advisor is Katelyn Dei.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Agricultural Education:

Second: Kaylee Pingel, Slinger

Third: Amy Jentges, Random Lake

Fourth: Lashawna Vogel, Denmark

Fifth: Mark Wanek, Denmark

McMeeken will find out this summer if  he is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Ben will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in October.
