Nelson Wins Wisconsin FFA Beef Production Placement Proficiency

June 16, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Beef Production – Placement proficiency winner is Rylee Nelson of the Waupaca FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by American Foods Group.

Rylee works on her family farm and at Richardson’s Beef managing the grass fed cattle herds that are raised at the farms. When Rylee first started, her only role was to assist in moving cattle. Now, Rylee is involved in all aspects of the cattle’s care on the farms. From providing each calf with one-on-one care in the spring to being strategic of when she rotates the herds to different pastures in the summer, Rylee strives to keep her herd healthy and ready for market,

Rylee’s advisors are Hannah Whipple and Bobbie Jo Montgomery.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Beef Production Placement :

Second: Allison Loosen, Slinger

Third: Ava Johnson, Weyauwega-Fremont

Fourth: Kaycee Lidner, Iowa-Grant

Fifth: Rhett Nelson, Waupaca

Nelson will find out this summer if she is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Rylee will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
