Jackson Nesbit of the Sun Prairie FFA Chapter was selected as the state winner of the FFA Prepared Speaking Leadership Development Event (LDE) with his speech title: Eating Bugs. Nesbit’s advisors are Ms. Jenny Herman, Mr. Krist Kvalheim, and Mr. Josh Capodarco. The Prepared Speaking LDE was held at the 94^th State Convention of the Wisconsin Association of FFA in Madison, Wisconsin.

In the Prepared Public Speaking LDE, students research a topic of interest and then put on a six to eight-minute creative and informative speech. The speech is then presented to a panel of judges who score the student based on the speech’s content, composition and delivery.

The other finalists were:

2nd Place: Madison Wiese, Wrightstown

 3rd Place:  Allison Loosen, Slinger

4th Place:  Ella Woodoworth, Shullsburg

The State FFA Prepared Speaking LDE is sponsored at the state level by the Adams-Columbia Electric Cooperative. The Prepared Speaking LDE is sponsored on the national level by Bayer.

Nesbit will represent Wisconsin at the 96^th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana this November. The national winner will be selected from a group of state finalists and will receive a plaque and additional scholarship money.
