Nett Wins Wisconsin FFA Swine Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency

June 16, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Swine Production Entrepreneurship proficiency winner is Eli Nett of the Weyauwega – Fremont FFA. This  proficiency is sponsored by the Wisconsin Pork Association.

Eli has been raising swine for the past five years. Each year, after purchasing his hogs in March, Eli trains, feeds, washes, clips, and manages his hogs to ensure that he is able to produce three quality market hogs to show at the county fair. By becoming very attentive to detail, Eli has been able to meet his hogs needs. Eli is even able to decide exactly what to feed his hogs based on their muscling and physical appearance.

Eli’s advisors are Sandra Dykes and Connie Peterson in Swine Production Entrepreneurship.

We would like to recognize the state finalists:

Second: Kaleb Ellis, Cochrane – Fountain City

Third: Norah Ganske, Waupun

Fourth: Bethany Megdanz, Weyauwega – Fremont

Fifth: Talena Sprecher, Ithaca

Nett will find out this summer if he is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Eli will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
