MADISON, Wis. – The Pardeeville FFA Chapter was named the state winning Meats Evaluation & Technology Career Development Event Team. Team members include Macy Cross, Ruby Payne, Mya Noyons and Brooke Luedtke. Their advisors are Amanda Seichter and Megan Vujnovich. Rylee Brattlie from the Cambridge FFA was named the top individual. Her advisor is Emily Kingbeil.
Participants in the Meats Evaluation and Technology Career Development Event delve into the science of meat. During this event, students evaluate quality and yield grade, identify various meat cuts and place classes of pork, beef, and lamb carcasses.
Pardeeville will now represent Wisconsin FFA in competition at the National FFA Career Development Events to be held in October in Indianapolis, Indiana during the 95th National FFA Convention. The Meats Evaluation & Technology CDE is sponsored on the state level by the Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors. The National sponsors are Cargill, Hormel Foods and Country Meats.
This event is ideal for students who are interested in exploring or pursuing career opportunities in the meat animal industry. All Career Development Events engage students in developing their communication, decision-making and teamwork skills to promote future career success.
