Pokorny Wins Wisconsin FFA Poultry Production Proficiency

June 16, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Poultry Production proficiency winner is Cameron Pokorny of the Waupun FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by Pilgrim’s and Louis & Sandra Arrington.

As the owner and manager of his business Cam’s Coop, Cameron maintains a flock of 200 including egg-layers, meat birds, and show birds. Camron is responsible for all aspects relating to the success of his business including decision-making, financials, marketing, inventory, and flock care. Cameron takes great pride in understanding the different feed and management requirements for each of the types of birds he raises. Additionally, through his SAE Cameron has been able to donate 2,300 dozen eggs and over 130 meat birds to his local food pantry.

Cameron’s advisors are Kris Beaver, Tari Costello, and Bryce Daane.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Poultry Production:

Second: Ben McMeeken, Slinger

Third: Bryce Grossen, Monroe

Fourth: Bethany Magdanz, Weyauwega – Fremont

Fifth: Victor Kiedrowski, Weyauwega – Fremont

Porkorny will find out this summer if he is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Cameron will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
