Participants in the Meats Evaluation and Technology Career Development Event delve into the science of meat. During this event, students evaluate beef carcasses for quality and yield grade, identify various meat cuts and place carcasses, and identify wholesale and retail cuts.
River Ridge will now represent Wisconsin FFA in competition at the National FFA Career Development Events to be held in November in Indianapolis, Indiana during the 96th National FFA Convention. The Meats Evaluation & Technology CDE is sponsored on the state level by the Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors. The National sponsors are Cargill, Hormel Foods and Country Meats.
This event is ideal for students who are interested in exploring or pursuing career opportunities in the meat animal industry. All Career Development Events engage students in developing their communication, decision-making, and teamwork skills to promote future career success.
