Robinson Wins Wisconsin FFA Diversified Livestock Proficiency

June 16, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Winner in Diversified Livestock Production is Joey Robinson of the Mineral Point FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by the Wisconsin FFA Convention Partners.

Joey’s interest in the livestock industry started when he first showed sheep in 2010. That was only the beginning. Today, Joey owns 11 head of beef cattle, 8 sheep, and 5 goats. When Joey first started, his parents assisted with feeding, breeding, culling, and fitting. Now, Joey is able to accomplish these tasks independently, and uses his expertise to bring him success in and out of the show ring. In addition, Joey is in charge of his family’s animal health practices including trimming hooves, vaccinating, and treating sick animals. Furthermore, Joey has been able to sell his livestock to other exhibitors.

Joey’s advisor is Mike Robinson.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Diversified Livestock Proficiency :

Second: Brianna Goplin, Whitehall

Third: Ava Johnson, Weyauwega – Fremont

Fourth: Paul Loosen, Slinger

Fifth: Ana Roehling, Wonewoc Center

Robinson will find out this summer if he is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Joey will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
