The 2023 Winner in Grain Production is Luke Schubert of the Mineral Point FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by Northside Elevator and Kuhl Equipment LLC.

Luke and his family run a large – scale grain farm consisting of 7,000 acres of crops, where they grow corn, soybeans, wheat, and alfalfa. On the farm, Luke’s responsibilities include planting crops, tilling, running the grain cart, and much more. Additionally, Luke bought a round baler and tractor with his brother to do custom work for other farms in the area. Last year, for custom work Luke did 600 bales of wheat straw, 100 corn fodder bales, and 100 hay bales.

Schubert will find out this summer if he is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Luke will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
