Slinger FFA Wins State Food Science & Technology Career Development Event

June 8, 2022 CDE

MADISON, Wis. – The Slinger FFA Chapter was named the state winning Food Science & Technology Career Development Event Team. Team members include Cheyanne Kedinger, Marie King, Ben Mcmeeken and Megan Mosgaller. Their advisor is Katelyn Dei. Seth Wavrunek from the Mishicot FFA was the top individual. His advisor is Jamie Propson.

The Food Science & Technology Career Development Event requires students to have an in-depth understanding of food product development, food presentation and food safety issues. Additionally, participants use their sensory skills to solve problems and make sound decisions.

Slinger will now represent Wisconsin FFA in competition at the National FFA Career Development Events to be held in October in Indianapolis, Indiana during the 95th National FFA Convention. The Food Science & Technology Career Development Event is sponsored on the state level by the Wisconsin FFA Foundation Annual Fund. The National sponsors are Bunge, Hormel Foods, Kerry and U.S. Poultry & Egg Association.

By exposing students to issues in food science and technology, students gain experience that prepares them for traditional and non-traditional careers. All Career Development Events engage students in developing their communication, decision-making and teamwork skills to promote future career success.
