Thompson Wins Wisconsin FFA Agricultural Education Proficiency

June 13, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Winner in Agricultural Education is Jescey Thompson of the Galesville – Ettrick – Trempealeau FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by Wisconsin Public Service.

Jescey’s passion for agricultural education first started when he had the opportunity to speak at the Trempealeau County Courthouse about land & water conservation. This experience ignited a passion in Jescey and led him to enrich the agricultural literacy of his community in a variety of ways including teaching agricultural lessons in his mom’s classroom, serving as the Trempeleau County Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom Coordinator, and creating a website which contains agricultural lesson plans and materials. Jescey feels the calling to learn more and do more to help others understand the importance of agriculture in any way possible

Jescey’s advisor is John Nelson.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Agricultural Education:

            Second: Amy Jentges Random Lake

            Third: Cody Hudziak Weyauwega-Fremont

            Fourth: Henry Koerner Big Foot

Fifth: Elizabeth Reinart – Granton

Thompson will find out this summer if he is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Jescey will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
