Viau Wins Wisconsin FFA Agriscience Research – Plant Systems Proficiency

June 16, 2023 Proficiency

The 2023 Agriscience Research Plant Systems proficiency winner is Clare Viau of the Stevens Point FFA. This proficiency is sponsored by Wisconsin FFA Foundation Convention Partners.

After seeing the Agriscience Fair at her first state convention, Claire’s passion for science was ignited and she wanted to get involved. During her 8th grade year, Claire completed her first research project for the Agriscience Fair in which she studied the effect of gravity on plant growth by rotating seedlings. From there Claire’s research has expanded on the idea of producing food in space, where Claire studied factors that are different in space than on Earth, including soil and light.

Clare’s advisors are Stephanie Beranek, Camila Freund and Lily Trzebiatowski.

We would like to recognize the state finalists in Agriscience Research – Plant Systems :

Second: Cael Higgins, Edgar

View will find out this summer if she is selected as one of four national finalists. If selected, Claire will compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., in November.
