For outstanding support, help and guidance to agricultural education and the FFA, the Wisconsin Association of FFA was honored to bestow the Distinguished Service Award to four recipients at the 93rd State FFA Convention held in Madison, Wisconsin. The 2022 Distinguished Service Award recipients are:
Terry Bernick has served FFA members for 21 years as Executive Assistant at the Wisconsin FFA Center. She is behind the scenes for every FFA program working tirelessly with details and logistics. During each Wisconsin FFA Convention, you can find Terry working in the News Room, ready to share recognition information of FFA members. Terry and her husband, Clay, own a registered Holstein operation and frequently host functions and support agricultural events.
Roger King is the 2021-22 President of the Wisconsin Association of Agricultural Educators (WAAE). He is a retired agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor of Holmen High School where he served for 36 years. Roger has been recognized as the National Agriscience Teacher of the Year, Wisconsin Teacher of the Year, Developer of 50 Suitcase Lessons for hands on curriculum, member of the state writing team for agriculture education state academic standards, assisted in developing the National Agriculture Science Academy, and many others. He has helped his fellow FFA advisors develop knowledge and sharpen their skills.
John Deere was one of the first corporate sponsors to form an FFA Alumni and Supporters Chapter. The John Deere FFA Alumni and Supporters vision is to make a lasting impact by engaging with agricultural education programs and FFA members. Their mission is to enable John Deere employees to make a difference and develop future leaders by contributing through gifts of time, talent; and financial resources to the FFA at the local, state and national levels. At the Wisconsin FFA Convention you will see John Deere FFA Alumni and Supporter members greeting guests at the registration desk.
The CHS Foundation is dedicated to developing a new generation of ag leaders for lifelong success. Through cooperative education, university partnerships and ag leadership programs like FFA, the CHS Foundation is helping build a strong agriculture talent pipeline for leaders of the future. The CHS Foundation supports FFA members and agriculture educators at the national, state, and local chapter levels.
The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor that the FFA can bestow on a non-member, organization, business, or agency.
