Loosen Named Wisconsin Star Farmer Finalist

Paul Loosen of the Slinger FFA is a Wisconsin Star Farmer finalist.

On Paul’s family’s farm, he raises a variety of livestock. For the past three summers, Paul has raised 75 broiler chickens that he sells privately. Paul also raises beef and sheep. The youngstock that are born each spring are raised to become breeding stock or will be finished out to go to market. Additionally, for two years, Paul has purchased barrows to show at the county fair. Paul is incharge of all aspects of his livestock, from health protocols such as vaccinations to developing rations for each animal, and everything in between. Paul has had great success with his livestock winning many awards at different levels, including winning Third Overall Prospect Calf at the Minnesota Beef Expo.

After graduating in 2022, Paul earned a welding certificate at Moraine Park Technical College. Now, Paul is working as a full time welder at C&D Automated Systems.

Paul’s parents are Andrew and Angela Loosen. His advisor is Katelyn Dei.
