Terry Bernick, Tim Buttles and Randy Tenpas Recognized as Wisconsin FFA VIPs

June 20, 2023 Adult Recognition

Terry Bernick, Tim Buttles and Randy Tenpas were recognized as Wisconsin FFA VIP recipients at the 94th Wisconsin FFA Convention held in Madison, Wisconsin, June 12 – 15, 2023.

Terry Bernick
Terry Bernick has served FFA members for 22 years as Executive Assistant at the Wisconsin FFA Center. She is behind the scenes for every FFA program working tirelessly with details and logistics. She has
witnessed first-hand the growth of 22 state officer teams and how they mentor peers and share their excitement and passion for the FFA organization. During each Wisconsin FFA Convention, you can find Terry working in the News Room ready to share the award recognition of FFA members. Terry and her husband Clay own a registered Holstein operation and for 40 years have hosted functions and supported
agricultural events.

Tim Buttles
Tim Buttles has been teaching and mentoring students at UW-River Falls for 23 years as an Ag Education Professor. In addition, for the last year he has served as Interim Assistant Dean for the College of Education and Professional Studies. In May he received the CAFES Outstanding Faculty
Award, where his commitment to students and his constant seeking of new techniques and technologies as teaching tools was recognized. Dr. Buttles has coordinated the regional CDE qualifying event at UW-River Falls for 22 years and has been a judge, assistant coordinator, superintendent or presenter for FFA events every year since 1997.

Randy Tenpas
Randy Tenpas was a 40-year instructor at Fox Valley Technical College following a career in agri-business with the Land O’Lakes Cooperative. His combined background in education and agriculture helped his
students gain the knowledge and skillset they needed for careers in agribusiness. In retirement, he has been involved with Farming for the Future Foundation from its inception as a member of the education
advisory committee. While at Fox Valley Tech, he coordinated the regional CDE qualifying event. Mr. Tenpas’ long support of FFA led him to previously receive the Wisconsin and American Honorary Degrees.

This award has been presented to a select few individuals. Since its inception as a state recognition program has only been presented to twenty-two individuals. The VIP award is presented for a lifetime of support, dedication, and leadership benefiting the FFA, the FFA Alumni, and/or the FFA Foundation.
